A concert held by Lynn Soroptimists has raised £1000.00 for a research foundation which examines the cause and treatment of facial disease, injury and deformity.

Springwood High School Concert Band, Lynn Male Voice Choir and the Phoenix Singers took part in the event in aid of Saving Faces.

It also featured Phoenix singer, Marlene Gaunt, who had part of her tongue removed in January 2001 after being diagnosed with mouth cancer.

She appeared in the Lynn News last month when she spoke about her experience and why she is now championing the charity.

Around 130 people attended the concert, held at Springwood High School on Saturday 28 February.

And 60 people also attended a fund-raising talk held earlier in the day when Mrs Gaunt and her surgeon, Mr Leo Cheng, spoke about the operation and work of Saving Faces.

Mr Cheng accepted a cheque on behalf of the charity from Soroptimist president Mrs Ann Wells, and Wootton Bridge Club also donated £65.00.
